LEVEL 6: INTERMEDIATE CANTONESE (Wednesday Evenings)

Intermediate Cantonese 6 (Zoom Conference)

Class Time – Wednesday, 7:30 – 9 PM ET

Total Sessions – 8

Class Size: 3 – 8 Students

Pre-requisites – Upper Beginner Cantonese 5, OR understand the use of commonly used final particles, able to change the tone/mood of a sentence by using different final particles, give directions including rows and columns, describing appearance and animals, and a basic familiarity of Jyutping.

Material – Cantonese for Intermediate Learners: Levels 5&6 Curriculum. 

The longer you study Cantonese, the more you learn that it is a fun and dynamic language. Whether you had taken other Cantonese classes in the past, or grew up speaking Cantonese with families but now need more structures to express your thoughts, this Level 6 Intermediate Cantonese course is perfect for those of you who are looking to advance your Cantonese speaking and reading proficiency. In this course, you will learn to accurately use more complicated final particles to express your tone and some advanced sentence structures to speak Cantonese more colloquially. Our curriculum is also topic and tasks-based, and you will also get more familiarized with the application of tones and Jyutping, one of the standard Cantonese Romanization systems that is commonly used today. After studying this 8-week course, you will be able to ask and answer hold a more complicated conversation with your families and native friends as well as writing paragraphs to form short stories.

Writing – There will be 15 minutes in each session that is used to study traditional Chinese characters.
